REASON 92: I am voting for Obama because he supports stem cell research.
Let's first briefly discuss what stem cell research is. Stem cells are crucial in the development of organisms, they are in all our bodies, and we can use them to counteract diseases, reduce risks in surgeries, and fight cancer.As we have progressed through the past centuries we have learned more and more about our bodies. We have learned how to fight off viruses, diseases, and other ailments that have plagued our bodies. In doing so, we have vastly improved our quality of life and increased the amount of time we are alive. Stem cell research is one of the most important avenues of research we can pursue to learn about our bodies—if not the most important. Stem cells can help us find ways to make the crippled walk, the blind see, and the deaf hear; they can help us fight off diseases like Parkinson's, Alzheimer's, heart disease, strokes, diabetes, and cancer. We all eventually succumb to one or more of these diseases, but stem cell research can help us find ways to counteract and/or avoid them. We don't just need the research open, we need more funding for it.
Barack Obama issued an executive order to fund stem cell research. Mitt Romney's position on stem cell research has been muddled and inconsistent. It's clear who is on the right side of this issue. I don't want to see the United States move back from the progress we have made in the past four years. Vote Obama.
